The Students Inside Conference (SIA), sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New York State Education Foundation, Inc., is designed to increase students' awareness of their responsibility in representative government and provide the tools necessary for meeting that responsibility and becoming active citizens.
The interactive conference brings students from across the state together to learn about New York State government and the process by which citizens can participate in the policy making arena. As part of the program students:

attend dynamic programming from the State League, featuring several guest speakers

tour the State Capitol

spend their afternoons shadowing their State representatives

and attend sessions of both the Senate and Assembly
Early in each calendar year, LWV of Albany County (LWVAC) selects one or more Albany County high school students to attend the SIA conference, through an application process. We reach out to all high schools in the county to alert them about the opportunity, as well as publishing it in our e-news and bulletins.
