 August 26: Women's Equality - or Inequality - Day

womens equality day 2025
August 26, known as Women's Equality Day, marks the anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment, granting some women the right to vote. Yet today, women have fewer rights than they have had in decades. To recognize this, we acknowledge it also as Women's Inequality Day.

The President is vowing to radically restrict voting rights by eliminating mail-in ballots and even voting machines. On the anniversary of women in the US getting the right to vote, gather to call attention to this travesty by rallying in defense of ALL citizens having voting rights with nonpartisan messaging that defends democratic ideals and practices. For information, contact president@lwvsaratoga.org

"Not your grandmother's bridge party."

LWVAC member advocate Christine Primomo is featured in an 8/20/25 Altamont Enterprise article about one way to get out messaging about the existential crisis that we face as a nation. The "bridge parties" she organized don't involve players around a card table. Rather they involve activists displaying banners across a bridge -- banners to inspire passersby to join the movement to preserve democracy. The Visibility Brigade of which her group is a part, began in Paramus, New Jersey in 2020. Christine says, “It’s like we have to save this country for our grandchildren and future generations.” Continue Reading. . .
