Documentary Screening: Shirley Chisholm: Unbought and Unbossed
About this event
LWVAC is hosting activities commemorating the passage of the 19th Amendment and the Civil Rights Act of 1965 that includes a screening of the documentary, Shirley Chisholm: Unbought and Unbossed. The documentary takes an in-depth look at the 1972 presidential campaign of the trailblazer Shirley Chisholm. Chisholm, a former member of the Brooklyn, NYC League of Women Voters, was the first Black woman elected to Congress and the first Black woman to run for president. This screening is supported by a donation from LWVAC Board member, Christine Florez, in honor of her mother Juana Crowley Serrano Florez. Light refreshments will be served. Maximum capacity is 35 people. The screening is free and open to the public.
