NYS Campaign Finance Reform
Published on 7/15/2024
New York State's Public Campaign Finance Board has amended its rules to require that each contribution list submitted to receive matching funds be accompanied with a card listing the email address and telephone number of each contributor. This is in response to an Assembly candidate in Queens having received more than $150,000 in matching funds by reporting contributions that were from individuals who never, in fact, made any contributions. This is a small but significant reform to prevent fraud in the administration of the program.
