The LWV of Albany County was invited by the USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) to help new citizens register for voting at a naturalization ceremony at the Empire State Plaza on the 4th of July. The Honorable Richard Rivera administered the oath for 16 new citizens. Our volunteers included Janet Reilly, Maureen Bernstein, Marianne Purcell, Lacey Putnam, MaryKate Owens and Julie Elson. They also were delighted to meet a group of Girl Scouts from a Rensselaer County troop who led the new citizens in the Pledge of Allegiance.
